The unidentified flying object or UFO was seen earlier this week over Billingshurst. Air cadet Alex Bridle spotted the UFO in the late evening hours while on a walk outdoors with a friend. Mr Bridle reported seeing a "bright orange light’ flash high up above after 10.30pm before it sped up and vanished from sight.

He said: "It looked way too fast and too bright to be any sort of satellite.

"It was a solid light for 10 seconds and then started getting lighter and brighter regularly.

"I watched it for about a minute. It came overhead and then disappeared. It was strange.

"I’m an air cadet and I know what different types of aircraft look like at night. I know it wasn’t something ‘normal’."

The UFO report was analysed by Scott C Waring, a popular UFO hunter and conspiracy theorist.

The comet, which made its closest flyby of Earth on July 24, has been visible from the Northern Hemisphere since early July.

Mr Waring claims to have seen evidence of another UFO appearing next to the comet.

He said: "The objects visit coincides with comet NEOWISE.

"The comet was visible between July 15 and 23 and I reported another UFO sighting near Neowise last week here in Taiwan.

"This is more proof that NEOWISE does have UFOs going to and from the comet as it comes close to Earth.

"Other UFO sightings have seen bright bursts of light right before the UFO shot off at tremendous speed... except now... we know where it was going... NEOWISE."

Equally baffling UFOs have been reported in Barns Green, Warnham and Rudgwick.

Diane Stirling, who lives in Warnham, said: "I know we are due a meteor shower but they definitely were not meteors.

"I first saw a flash, almost like a plane’s light flashing, but just one, then a trail and it literally disappeared."

And Kevin Leader of Rudgwick said: "I saw an object at the front of the plane which then went to the back and then went vertically at speed."

However, there is no concrete evidence whatsoever of alien UFOs visiting our planet, or that aliens exist.

Instead, experts often explain UFO sightings through an effect

Pareidolia is an effect that causes people to see recognisable shapes and patterns where they do not exist.

For example, pareidolia can cause people to see smiling faces in car bumpers or animal-shaped clouds.

The US space agency NASA said: "Pareidolia is the psychological phenomenon where people see recognizable shapes in clouds, rock formations, or otherwise unrelated objects or data.

"There are many examples of this phenomenon on Earth and in space."
