Hoi An was silent during the Covid-19 season
No longer crowded and bustling, Hoi An became unusually quiet day by day

Due to the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic, tourists were deserted, many attractions and trading shops were closed, and tourism activities in Hoi An were delayed.

In particular, after the "curfew" order of the city halted the business of restaurants, dining, beer, coffee ... throughout the city from March 28 to the end of April 15.

After this time limit, depending on the evolution of the disease situation, Hoi An City People’s Committee will consider and decide whether to allow the operation to resume or extend the time for disease prevention. As the whole city "slows down", people also restrict going out and going to public places.

Many people liken Hoi An to "going back to the past" about 20 years ago, when the guests were not crowded

The boat rowing and flower selling services on the Hoai River have been temporarily halted

In the middle of the afternoon, the old streets of Hoi An are quite sparse. Most souvenir shops and coffee shops on Tran Phu, Nguyen Thai Hoc and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai streets have been closed down.

Busy streets, crowded people are now sparse. According to many people in Hoi An - their old town is resting after days of "buckling" visitors

Before the outbreak, the Hoi An night market was a bustling, crowded place attracting a lot of visitors and shopping. But now it is deserted, after the instruction to suspend trading to prevent epidemics

Souvenir shops, clothes, places of business and eating at Hoi An market also stopped operating. Only essential goods for the life of the people are allowed to operate, but also restrict and comply with disease prevention rules.

These days, the people of Hoi An have time to relax, in return for months of fatigue to earn a living. “It’s been a long time since the old town was so deserted, this hasn’t been done in over 10 years. I do not know whether to be happy or sad, crowded, noisy, but when there are no customers, the business stagnates, ”said Le Van Hoang, a long-time resident in the old town.

On the street, only occasionally see a few foreign tourists walk, momentarily the motorbike rushed through. On the porch of the house, the old men and women sat and watched from afar, discussing stories about the plague. It’s been a long time since ancient town residents have been so relaxed

According to information from the Quang Nam Tourism as‌sociation, up to now, an estimated 95% of business establishments in the old town have closed down. The remaining open numbers are mainly families living here. However, it is expected that trading activities in the old town will be completely terminated in the next few days when the few remaining foreign tourists will leave Hoi An.

After the "curfew" order of Hoi An city, cafes, refreshments, beer pubs ... in the city have been suspended from March 28 until the next direction.

Many shops have temporarily stopped operating, a few still work in moderation but only receive orders to take home or sell away without serving at the counter.

Public beaches have also been shut down since March 29, many tourists who didn’t know they had to come back

In public places, administrative agencies, businesses ... in Hoi An are hanging pano, posters ... propaganda against Covid-19
